North Flats

The SPI Windsurfing and Kiteboarding Organization leases the North Flats property for the exclusive use for its members. It is located at the north end of the City of South Padre Island about two miles past the convetion center.

terms of our lease agreement requires:

• That every sailor and / or Kiter fill out and sign a Release Form that protects the owners of the property.
• That the North Flats not be opened or otherwise available to the general public.
• That there will be no overnight camping at the North Flats.
• That the property will be gated and locked when not in use.

The association is responsible for keeping the beach safe and making sure that every person or family using the beach has signed a release form and paid their annual usage fee. As the area becomes more popular it is becoming more difficult to make sure that everyone using the North Flats is in fact a member of the association.

Help us keep the North Flats open and safe. If you see someone using the North Flats and they don't have a current sticker, please ask them to go see Jibber, Herman or SPI Kiteboarding for a Release Form. Remember this is your private beach and launch site.

How to become a member

To become a member of the South Padre Island Windsurfing and Kiteboarding Organization you must fill out and sign a Release Form and pay an annual membership fee. The fees are $15 a month and $25 a year. Individuals not signing a release form and not paying their annual dues will be asked to leave the North Flats area. Sorry, no exceptions. The signed form is a requirement of our lease agreement.
