Membership Stickers – Please remember to purchase/renew your Annual South Padre Island Windsurf and Kiteboarding Association membership.   Bay access is hard to come by these days, so help the association fight the good fight for your right to ride the wind here on SPI.  The annual rate remains $25.00 per car, and the monthly rate is $15.00 per car.  More information, the annual membership form and the Liability Release Form (which MUST be signed and turned in) go to our website at: www.spiwindsurfing.com.  The SIGNED release form is a lease requirement per the owners of the North Flats property.  Please don’t shine it!!!  Any questions about your registration or the release form email Herman at: sbsso@sbcglobal.net and be sure to put SPI Windsurfing in the subject field.

Fall 2009 – The fall sailing was not off to the races. We had a minimum of great days and not too many good steady south wind days. We also had to deal with more high tides than usual. A lot of sailing was from the convention center parking lot. Red Tide was bad from Sept til Dec. and when the cold fronts came roaring through and the water temperature dropped, the Red Tide count decreased back to normal. Everyone that was still around in early December observed a world record demolition of the tallest reinforced concrete structure.  Go to You-Tube and check South Padre Is Demolition.

Dec into Jan was really cold and it got down to 34 on the island with the water in the mid to high 40’s. Late January and Feb produced some good sailing days with promise for a windy spring. Keep a positive thought.

News Flash! – It finally did go DOWN – that sore thumb, eyesore of a wind shadow the Ocean Towers at the north end of SPI is gone demolished!!! 

You will have the opportunity to drive over some of that crushed concrete from the Ocean Towers of SPI this spring. The club has purchased 6 truck loads of the Towers to maintain our access road. Sweet revenge.

are hosting the second annual 2010 SPI Kite RoundUp.

The Windsurfing and Kiteboarding GPS Blowout will not be held this year.

FaceBook users – For any of you Facebook members out there we now have a group you might want to join.  SPIWindsurfing.  There are already quite a few folks who have joined the group, but we want more! Thanks to Bob Weeks for setting it up.  Join up and submit comments and photos. 

Swap meet dates – Do you have gear to sell??  Looking to buy some gear??  This spring the swap meets are scheduled every Saturday beginning

April 3, 10, 17, 24 and May 1, 8.  They are held in the south parking lot of Louie’s Backyard, south of the bungee jump area, starting at 9:00 AM until the wind blows.  Come check it out! 

Spring Dinner – The Spring Dinner will be on Friday, April 30th starting 6:30-serving at Louie’s Backyard outside. The tickets are $20. Include

Seafood buffet with beer and wine while it last.
